Cheers!!

Hello Bloggers!! Cheers to my new life!! I am a graduate and about to complete my masters, Its been 2 months I have joined my fathers business at Business Development Manager post. But the most funny thing, I have been gearing up since 2 months but haven't manage to fix a single deal in this 2 MONTHS, Can you imagine? When I look at my father, he fixes 5-10 deals daily so at last what matters, a degree or an experience? I have been travelling to visit some of the manufacturing unit to understand the whole scenario of this Business World but still its so less. Now how could I say that I am a masters degree holder? When I think of PhD, the first thought that comes in my mind; JUST ANOTHER DEGREE!! In short to do a business all the degrees are useless. This blog is for all who completed their education in the recent time or about to complete and planning to step-in or gearing up in the real world. A toast to our life!! So a DEGREE or an EXPERIENCE??

  1. Hi Raghav,

If I say that you and me share a few things in common, then it won't be wrong.

I am into software and web development. And I got a job before I completed by BCA. And my job was not based on my qualification, it was for the experience and knowledge of the programming languages. I was not asked whether I had a degree but I was asked if I knew .NET or PHP.

But Raghav, degree does matter for MNC's or corporate firms. It serves an entering point for them. Once you enter a company, the value of the degree posses lesser future value and from thereafter, only your experience matters.

As far as business is concerned, so yes, it is true that experience matters the most. The reason why your dad can crack 5-10 deals a day is because he has a lifetime experience now. He knows how to handle the clients and convince them or satisfy them. Books can teach you how to grow your business but the actual behavior of the clients/tastes and the ways to tackle them according to their mindset can only be learnt through experience.

But yes, I would also say that nowadays, expansion and modernization is also important as it is a world of globalization. So in order to expand your business, you need to be aware about all the aspects and things happening not only around you but also in the whole world, so education is a window to that aspect. Probably that is the reason why your dad wanted you to complete your studies because I am sure he wants you to enlarge it by the use of modern techniques and at the same time, learning the domestic ways of work from him. A combination and a balance of both is what is needed to groom a successfull business.
